What is Support at Home?

The Support At Home (SAH) program is a new Australian Government initiative, officially commencing on 1 November 2025.

This program has been introduced to simplify and strengthen in-home aged care, replacing the existing Home Care Packages (HCP) program. SAH is designed to make it easier for older Australians to access tailored support, stay independent for longer, and have greater choice and flexibility in the services they receive.

  • SAH provides support for older people who want to continue living safely and independently at home, even if they have more complex care needs.
  • Like the Home Care Packages program, SAH is based on choice. You can select the services that best meet your individual goals and preferences.
  • Services may include:
    • Personal care and daily living assistance
    • Respite care and social support
    • Meal preparation and delivery
    • Transport
    • Nursing and allied health services
    • Equipment and home modifications to support mobility and safety
  • The program aims to be easier to understand and manage, giving you more control over the care you receive.
  • Your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) will guide you through the assessment process to determine your eligibility and support level.
  • You can request for an ACAT member to refer you to Gilgandra Lifestyles, so our team can support you in accessing and managing your care.
