BUUNJI Activity Group

BUUNJI is an aboriginal word meaning “to share” and that is exactly what we do at our friendly activity group. Our group meets twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm, providing social support and undertaking a range of activities.

Our small group is made up of people who love to get together to do some activities and have a yarn. Even if you have never done any of our activities before we are more than happy to teach you and if you do something that we don’t do maybe you could teach us.

If you just want to sit, have a cuppa and a chat you are more than welcome to join us. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and with no pressure.

“There are no strangers here only friends you haven’t met”

Some of the activities we undertake:

  • Sewing
  • Quilting
  • Knitting
  • Jewellery Making
  • Card Making
  • Table Decorating
  • Candle Making
  • Crochet
  • Long Stitch
  • Embroidery
  • Outings

BUUNJI Activity Centre

The official opening of the Buunji Activity Centre took place at Jack Towney Hostel on Friday, 11 March 2022.

The Buunji Activity Centre allows more space for existing members and new members of the Jack Towney Hostel social group to undertake their activities. It also allows Jack Towney Hostel to host other events such information sessions, educational sessions and other cultural events.

The Buunji Activity Centre extension was funded by a generous donation from the estate of Mr Henry Stockings and was officially opened by Mr Michael Cain (Chair), Jack Towney Hostel Corporation. The ribbon was cut by Michael Cain and Kathy Bird.
