Angelena joined Gilgandra Shire Council in August 2017 as Manager of Aged Care to Cooee Lodge, Cooee Retirement Village and Jack Towney Hostel. Angelena saw these facilities through their major 3 year accreditations in October 2017.
Angelena says, “I have recently come from working in the Hunter and Central Coast, where I managed two large Aged Care Facilities, over the previous 10+ years. I have over 25 years experience in aged care, and have seen many changes over that time. I gain great satisfaction in making a positive difference in the home of residents, seeking out challenges to make their home and the staff’s work environment a better place for all.”
Angelena gains great satisfaction from the role that she plays, particularly enjoying the variety of activities she is involved in, and meeting new people. Helping people to navigate through the process of preparing for and accepting residential aged care is her specialty.
Angelena has thoroughly enjoyed relocating to her rural home and says that the highlights of her involvement with Cooee Retirement Village, is the warm community spirit and how the village is surrounded by greenery and open space, something new to her. Similarly, she believes the rural setting of Jack Towney Hostel sets it apart from other facilities. Angenela says, “Jack Towney is a delightful Hostel that is well presented and has a very dedicated team of staff that make the facility what it is today.”
Angelena is known to all the residents, who take pride in the fact that she walks to work each day and will do out of her way to help each and every member of their community as well as the broader Gilgandra community as a whole.
